The Turner House

Our RYA shorebased courses are held here in the Turner House. A great place to study in a tranquil setting overlooking the Fjord. For those taking part on one of our cruises why not stay here before or after your cruise. If you are interested in art we offer a range of courses throughout the year.
All in this historical Norwegian Villa built in 1906 by an Englishman called Turner. The villa commands spectacular panaramic

views over StongFjord from its vantage point above the tiny village of Stongfjorden with its picturesque church,babbling brook, museum and the local arts and crafts community .
This is the ideal location for nature lovers, artists and sportsmen/women alike. There are walks straight off the doorstep where you have the chance of filling baskets with wild edible mushrooms and blueberries and spotting an Elk!(in season).
The fjord abounds with fish (no licence needed) with only the murmur of the waterfalls to distract the angler. Drive out to Stavanes,at the end of the pennisular,on a windy day and experience the thrill of a north sea gale in action!

Or visit the prehistoric rock paintings that lay out there on the shore. Stongfjorden is ideally placed for a variety of day trips.
Visit the largest glacier in Europe, Jostedalsbreen National Park (90 minutes by car), take a scenic drive over a series of bridges

to Bulandet,the westernmost island in Norway, in the winter the local ski slope is only 25 minutes away or just simply relax in the grounds of Turner Villa and enjoy its captivating atmosphere and dramatic sunsets. Visit Norway and discover that tranquility and adventure is free to everyone.

Stongfjorden is around 3 1/2 hours by car north of Bergen or 2 1/2 hours by Express Boat to Askvoll just a short distance away. Prices on request
